Porsche Design, a line that’s very existence stems from the ultimate combination of form and function, showed their latest collection of wares during this past NYFW and if there’s one thing we noticed, it’s that a little change is a good thing. Now under the stewardship of creative director Thomas Steinbruck, the brand’s lineup is slicker than ever, fusing utility details into streamlined shapes in both the ready-to-wear and the accessories while maintaining a sport luxe spirit throughout. Stand out items included four pocket jackets rendered in lightweight nylon or suede that could handle our entire daily haul, rich suede oxfords and desert boots with rubber soles, and orignal, throwback-style aviator sunglasses that conjure up imagery of living the ’70s good life. It’s a clever collection of anything-but-basic “engineered luxury” items that set the stage for Steinbruck to evolve the line even further.
