large_city_of_god_blu-ray_5

Young G’z. That’s G as in genius, not gangsta. We are genius musicians, designers, stylists, filmmakers, writers and performers sent here to create love. The universe is ours.

MechanicalDummy.com will be scouting the real world and web for G’z dedicated to mastering the power of art. We will bring you weekly profiles on these young Geniuses— some famous, some unknown— with hopes of inspiring more art from the hearts of young creators.

Mechanical Dummy set 2013 off by digging up five young artists with the talent and passion necessary to turn their dreams to reality. Follow their lead and you may stumble into a dream of your own.

What do you create?:

Dance is not a part of me, dance is who I am, who I truly am. When I dance I don’t think about anything else, when I dance everything feels right, when I dance I am the real me. I worked really hard on myself to now show the world the real me. I’ve always been shy and scared but I thought that if I didn’t show what the Lord has given to me, then who would? And if I didn’t show it, it would have gone to waste.

I want to share my experience & what I went trough to other people so that they can also embrace who they are and live their dreams.

My dream is to make it as a dancer. My biggest inspiration in dance and entertainment was Chris Brown. Since I was little, he was the one I looked up to. I’d dance to his songs. I’ve always looked up to him as a big brother because he could dance and he taught himself how to dance like me so I always thought we had a special bound like brother and sister. He is my biggest inspiration and when I’d dance on his songs in my room I always believed and dreamed of dancing with him.

Who are you?

The Bestest Lexis. I’m a 15 year old girl from Jackson, Mississippi who loves art and music. Basically culture altogether. Most kids in Mississippi think the only way out of the struggle is rap and sports. I decided to take another route: Using my artistic talents. I’m doing it for my passion of culture and to give me and my mom a better life. I hate to see her struggle as a single mother. So everyday I tell her one day I’m going to give a well deserved break. She looks at me and smiles and says I know you will just focus on getting your education for now. And I do.

What do you create?

In June 2011, I made a cartoon of Mindless Behavior and posted it on YouTube. I decided to make a cartoon of them because they were a new group and something told me that a lot of young girls would be searching everything up about them. Each day I would receive at least 1,000 views. I tweeted every Mindless Behavior fan I saw on twitter. My promotion ideas had a good outcome. This day, the cartoon is sitting on over 600,000 views.
