In January, Mechanical Dummy introduced you to a new G’neration of young geniuses. From artists to musicians, the amount of creativity bouncing around the digital universe is truly amazing.

For our second G’neration, we found 10 amateur creators who use their talents to make love through art. Submit your work to YoungGzMD@gmail.com for a chance to be featured in our next G’neration.

Who are you?

My name is Jonny Burt. I am a 23-year-old fine artist and actor from London, working both over here and in Los Angeles… My dream is to not have any regrets in 30 years, to be able to make a living out of being creative, doing what I love doing and hopefully make a shit load of money.

What do you create?

I create mixed media pieces on paper and canvas, predominantly using charcoals, pastels, acrylics, oils and collage. We now live in a schizophrenic society with a serious identity crisis and my work focuses on the toxic, dehumanising effects of a culture defined by reality shows and the gross sexualisation of our youth. As an actor, I am both disgusted and fascinated by the concept of fame and the crippling delusional aspects of ‘celebrity’ that seem to be increasingly aligned with human mortality in modern society.

Who are you?

My name is Lakeisha Burke. I am 24-years-old from Atlanta, Georgia.

What do you create?

I create honesty and positivity with my words… I don’t want recognition and I don’t want a profit. I share my story, because I might help save a life. I just want to speak the words that GOD has placed on my heart to say to help someone else.

I have big eyes, because I’ve cried a river. And a big heart, because I’ve felt so much pain.
I have a big nose, because I’ve smelled trouble before it even started to rain.
I’ve accepted my features, and I’m glad we don’t look the same.
Everything about me is different, well….except my name.
My teeth may not be all that straight, but when I smile they light up my face.
They make room for my tongue, when I speak the words that I have to say.
I may have dark skin, but my personality is the light.
My words are so powerful I can beat you down, but we would’nt have to fight.
My face is not the average one, that you would see on t.v.
But I like it, because I think it kind of fits me.
My left arm has a scar on it, but it saved my life.
It blends in with my skin, I think it looks alright.
My feet is sort of short, but I think my toes are long.
I have cute little moles on a couple of them, and their not placed wrong.
My hair is curly, but sometimes I have bad hair days.
It just does what it wants to do, but I love my hair anyways.
My thighs, legs, an ankles are small, but sometimes they look big to me.
That’s okay, because it flows with my upper body so perfectly.
The parts that you see that is unique, you say it’s ugly!
What you say doesn’t hurt anymore, because I’VE ACCEPTED ME!

Who are you?

My name is Jamil DeHonney. I am the youngest and the only son in a family of 5 raised by a single father. I had the toughest years because my father was in the military for the most part so I never got to actually talk to him or spend time with him on a father and son level. But I am extremely blessed to have such a strong father. I was always undecided to where my life would go until 2011 my sophomore year in college when I discovered Art!

What do you create?

I create Urban Street Modern Art. My dream is to become the best at what I do and share my talent and art with the world.

Who are you?

I’m Kelsey Zalimenia, a young artist still in school. I’m on an art scholarship to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. I work two jobs in addition to being a full-time student, on my grind til I get out of here and start chasing my dream of being an artist full-time. I scrap and work my way up the ladder; I don’t have my parents’ connections to spring off of… I network and push til I get to one peak, then keep climbing to the next. I have spent the past two summers interning in NYC and being around the art scene there. It has inspired me a tremendous amount. I lived in East Flatbush all last summer and really learned a lot from my roommate, the surrounding culture, and the street art I discovered like tiny treasures all over the places in BK and Manhattan.

What do you create?

I want to start doing my own street work, which antagonizes the current formal training I engage in each day at school. I want to fuse the two elements together, and bring street style artwork to the fine art scene (galleries, etc.)– we don’t have enough of that style represented in the mainstream art world. My works you’ll see in my portfolio is a taste of my paintings and drawings; some are more content-formal than others, but you’ll see my love for color and abstraction in there. I wanna start a movement… I’ve got a vision that hasn’t come to fruition yet as physical work, but it will one day. My name will be known.
