Have you ever been screwed because you didn’t read the fine print? 42-year-old Dmitry Agarkov wasn’t feeling the credit card offer he received so he wrote his own terms and sent the contract back to the bank. Tinkoff Credit Systems agreed to Mr. Agarkov’s terms without giving them a thorough read. He included, he would pay a zero percent interest rate, have unlimited credit with no fees, and required the bank to pay outrageous fees for changing or canceling the contract. Agarkov used the credit card for over two years until the bank cancelled it and sued him for $1363 for interest and late fees. A judge ruled in favor of Agarkov and said he only owed the outstanding balance, now Agarkov is suing the bank for $727000 for not honoring the contract.
Sometimes it helps to read the fine print.
