Steve Mumford traveled to war zones in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the U.S military prison at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base from 2003 – 2013. He documented artistically what he saw and experienced. He tried to capture what he called the “spaces in between” where soldiers and civilians aimed for normalcy. He used watercolors, sketches, and painting to depict what he saw. His exhibition is now up for show at the center of visual arts in Nashville.
