Somerset House in London is currently showing a major exhibition of Guy Bourdin’s photography from across his career. Bourdin was a trailblazing photographer, infusing fashion imagery with his own artistic expression. Rich and strange, his iconic style brought in layers of social commentary to a consumer audience. Bourdin’s works bear the strong Surrealist influence of famed photographer Man Ray, his teacher.
This post features just a taste of the exhibition. The images read as quite contemporary, but most were taken in the 60s and 70s.
