Adding a social dimension to its existing functionality, Snapchat today announced a new group chat function. This latest chapter in the ongoing battle between Instagram and Snapchat for popularity means users will be able to create a group for up to 16 participants to chat and switch between private chats — aka “Quick Chats” — by selecting individual names. As before, chats and snaps will only last 24 hours before being deleted with only one replay possible. Beyond this addition, a new Scissors tool will allow Snapchatters to cut up photos to create new stickers while a Paintbrush function means you can doctor your selfies. Update now to access the new functionality.
