Maxim Zhestkov Explores the Idea of Elements in Experimental Art Film

A visual artist and motion designer based in Russia, Maxim Zhestkov has been a man in demand over the years, creating gorgeous work for everyone from Google and Microsoft to MTV and BMW. Zhestkov’s latest piece, however, may be his best yet. Simply dubbed Elements, the beautiful short film utilizes more than two billion particles to showcase the way in which elements interact with one another. As Zhestkov explains:

More than 2 billion elements/particles governed by tensions and forces of nature were used to tell stories and show emotions through the motion of collective behavior. The film is a trial to explore the idea that everything around us and inside us is made from simple elements/blocks which can be arranged in complex relationships and become compound structures. We could project this idea into emotions, behaviors, thought processes, relationships, life, planets and the universe.
