Carhartt‘s signature Chore Coat is indicative of the brand as a whole — timeless, no-frills workwear that gets the job done. The brand’s WIP imprint has since updated the staple with a variety of new iterations, never sacrificing the original’s sturdiness or boxy cut. With the garment turning 100 in 2017, Carhartt WIP is celebrating the centennial mark with a Japanese pop-up event hosted by Need Supply Co.‘s Kumamoto outpost.
The staple outerwear piece, as popular as ever in vintage-obsessed Japan, is made recognizable by its visible rivets, square Carhartt patch and four front pockets. To commemorate the iconic item, 40 pieces from the Carhartt archive will be made available for sale at the pop-up, ranging from denim iterations, to classic duck canvas coats. A limited-edition book, entitled 2017: Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Iconic Carhartt Chore Coat will be included with each item sold, while DJ MURO will provide tunes on the first day of the event.
