Banksy’s New Pixelated Sculpture: Cardinal Sin

 

Oh, the Catholic church won’t be happy about this. Banksy just unveiled a brand new sculpture called Cardinal Sin which is a 18-century stone bust of a priest with its face sawn off and replaced by blank “pixelated” bathroom tiles. It was created as a response to the child abuse scandal in the Catholic church and its subsequent cover-up.

It looks like Banksy is really busy these days. Not only has the artist confirmed all the previous speculations on new work of his, but he also presents several other works that had not popped up yet.

Next to the ‘No Stopping Rats’ sign, the artist also presents the oestrich bird CCTV piece and another font piece, reading “You Don’t Need Planning Permission To Build Castles in the Sky”. As usual the artist makes strong ironic statements on society with his smart art work.

Banksy ‘Shop Till You Drop’ in London?

 

A new stencil that appears to be the work of famed street artist Banksy has been spotted in London, England. The work takes the phrase “shop till you drop” literally, depicting a shopper plunging from a high rise building. The COPS AGAINST CUTS piece at ground level is also of interest. New Banksy Monopoly Sculpture for Occupy London

 

Though we hadn’t heard from elusive street artist Banksy in a little while, it should come as no surprise that his latest piece would be for the “Occupy” movement. Popping up at St. Paul’s Cathedral for Occupy London, this brand new sculpture features a panhandling Rich “Uncle” Pennybags on a make-believe Monopoly board.

We had the privilege of covering the 'Art in the Streets' exhibit at MOCA Los Angeles last week highlighting the street art movement from the 1970's to present day. Artist featured were Banksy, Martha Cooper, Lady Pink, Blu, Rammellzee, KAWS, and many more. One of the first exhibits we stopped by was Banksy which featured paintings, installations, and even a large construction truck.
